County Preparing for Nicole, Closures Announced for Thursday

Ahead of the effects of Tropical Storm Nicole on the Golden Isles, Glynn County held a meeting to discuss preparations. urging the meeting, Scott Spence, Superintendent of Glynn County Schools, announced that the schools would be closed Thursday, but that the system would resume “business as usual: on Friday. Friday is a school holiday, so the schools will be out Friday as well, but the first-round playoff game between Brunswick High and Houston County, scheduled for Glynn County Stadium Friday night will go on as planned.

Brian Sipe, Chief of College of Coastal Georgia Police, confirmed that College of Coastal Georgia will be transitioning to online learning, with workers who are able to teleworking. Services for student residents will remain open.

FLETC will be suspending training Thursday and will resume Friday.

GDOT is still assessing whether or not they will be closing the Sidney Lanier Bridge and hope to announce that decision soon.

Marshes of Glynn Libraries will be closed Thursday.

Brunswick Municipal Court will be closed Thursday.

GLynn and Camden Health Departments will close Thursday.
