GA Secretary of State announces audit of presidential election

Georgia election officials have announced an audit of presidential election results that will trigger a full hand recount. Election workers will now hand-count all of the votes from the presidential election in what’s being called a “risk-limiting audit.”

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said at a news conference Wednesday morning that his office wants the process to begin by the end of the week and he expects it to take until November 20, which is the certification deadline.

“It’s an audit, recanvas and a recount - all in one,” Raffensperger said.

Raffensperger said the hand count is necessary because it “makes sense” when you look at how close the presidential race is. As of Wednesday morning, 14,101 votes separate Biden’s lead over Trump in Georgia.
