The University System of Georgia announced it's new policy requiring face masks on campuses. The new policy takes effect July 15. Students are not required to wear masks in areas such as dorm rooms, enclosed offices, and suites.
The released a statement saying, "Effective July 15, 2020, University System of Georgia (USG) institutions will require all faculty, staff, students, and visitors to wear an appropriate face covering while inside campus facilities/buildings where six feet social distancing may not always be possible. Face covering use will be in addition to and is not a substitute for social distancing. willnow require face masks on campusas schools plan to welcome back students this fall."
“Anyone not using a face covering when required will be asked to wear one or must leave the area,” according to a news release. “Repeated refusal to comply with the requirement may result in discipline through the applicable conduct code for faculty, staff or students.”
Alive 11 reported that the new policy comes after hundred of Georgia Tech professors wrote strongly worded letters to the university voicing their concern over the university’s decision not to make face masks mandatory for the upcoming fall semester
