Israel launched a retaliatory missile strike against Iran early Friday (April 19) morning, a U.S. official told ABC News.
There are reports of explosions in the Iranian city of Isfahan, near the Isfahan Airport and a military base. According to CNN, Iran's air defense systems have been activated, and all flights to Tehran, Isfahan, and Shiraz have been suspended.
There are no reports about damage or what targets were struck in the attack. An unidentified source told Fox News that the attack was "limited" in nature but did not provide additional details.
The strike comes after Iran launched roughly 300 missiles and drones at Israel last Saturday in retaliation for an attack at the Iranian consulate in Syria that killed several Iranian generals.
While Iran blamed Israel for the attack, the Israeli Defense Force has denied any involvement.
