Florida Woman Faked Medical Issue During Flight To Get Bigger Seat: Cops

U.S. Grounds All Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft After Viewing New Satellite Data

A Florida woman is in custody after she allegedly faked a medical emergency during an American Airlines flight from Pensacola to Miami. The woman, who has not been identified, alerted crew members that she was having "breathing issues," and the pilot decided to turn the plane around and return to Pensacola.

Once the plane landed, the woman admitted that she made up the medical emergency because she wanted to get a bigger seat. The woman then refused to leave her seat, forcing officials to ask all the other passengers to deplane. The pilot, along with medical personnel and police officers, went to speak with the woman and convinced her to leave the aircraft.

She was taken into protective custody but was not charged with a crime, though officials have not ruled out charging her for her actions.

The plane was back in the air following a one hour delay.
