A large number of city, county and college departments and agencies will participate with the federal Dept. of Defense and Georgia National Guard in a Vigilant Guard exercise this Thursday. The weeklong event is a full scale statewide exercise. Locally, a Category 3-4 strength hurricane with a direct hit in coastal Georgia region will be simulated along with associated public health issues. A full scale Point of Distribution will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. The general public is invited to attend.
