School Board Considers Dipping Into Reserves

During their finance committee meeting last week the Glynn County Board of Education considered a proposed budget which will reduce the general fund balance by $3.4 million. If they approve the current 2018-2019 budget, it would reduce the June 30, 2018estimated general fund balance from $21.7 million to an estimated balance of $18.3 million at the end of the June 30, 2019 school year. Included in next year’s budget are 17 new teachers and counselors, 5 parapros, 2 administrative positions, and 1 mechanic.
