Details Revealed in Fatal I-95 Crash

Stephen DeLoach of Brunswick died Monday after being involved in a car chase by Glynn County Police and the Georgia State Patrol on Interstate 95 last week. The driver of the car, Katelyn Jones, remains at Memorial Health in Savannah. The two were surveilled traveling to Florida by narcotics agents where it is believe they purchased illegal drugs. As they returned to Glynn County, County Police attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding on I-95 and ended up in pursuit. When a Georgia State patrol officer attempted to stop the speeding car, the struck the center guardrail and flipped over.  DeLoach was airlifted to UF Health in Jacksonville in critical condition the day of the accident, Thursday, Feb. 22. He was released from the hospital on Feb. 25, returned and then transported to Southeast Georgia Health System then next day where he was pronounced dead. Autopsy results are pending and the crash and DeLoach is death under investigation by the state patrol. No reports of arrests have been made.
