Man Leads Police on 2-County Chase

30 year old Christopher Mabry Burkett of Maryland allegedly went on a two-county driving spree in a stolen car during the predawn hours Wednesday, leading a Glynn County police officer on a chase exceeding speeds of 110 mph before crashing at Horsestamp Church Road in Camden County. After crashing the 2017 Hyundai Elantra at 4:40 a.m., Burkett ran into the woods leaving his girlfriend behind. Camden County Sheriff’s deputies sent a K9 team into the woods and returned with Burkett who remains in jail after being charged with fleeing a police officer for a felony offense, reckless driving, running stop signs, failure to maintain a lane, not using turn signals and having an open container of alcohol.
