Irma Damages Neptune Park Extensively

According to officials with Glynn County Public Works, Neptune Park on St. Simons sustained about $33,000 in damage during Hurricane Irma. Tropical storm-force winds and the powerful storm surge tore up benches bolted to walkways, moving them away from their original positions. Public works has cleared the rocks and loose pavers, but parts of the pathway around the park are blocked off to prevent injury. The county will need to repair the path as well as some outdoor lighting fixtures, which could take 3 to 4 months, before the park is back in shape.
