Man Assaulted in Pier Village

Walking home from the St. Simons Pier along Mallery St. to his nearby apartment about 2:00 Sunday morning 28 year old Donavan Chadwick Norris was sucker punched in the face by a hostile stranger who had been kicked out of the Mallery St. bar Rafters earlier in the evening. Norris was taken to the ICU at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah with a small skull fracture and bleeding on the brain. He remained there yesterday in stable condition. The assailant, who was reportedly hostile towards many Rafters patrons before employees ordered him to leave, is described as a white male approximately 5’10”, between 120 and 150 pounds and drove away in a dark blue or gray Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck “with a skull on the back glass.” One bystander heard the suspect mention he was from Liberty County. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Glynn County Police Investigator Shaun Johnson at 912-554-7802, or the Silent Witness hotline at 912-264-1333.
