The Brunswick city commission denied a rezoning on a 3-2 vote that would have allowed a “dollar type” store at the corner of Gloucester and Lee Streets adjacent to the Windsor Park and Urbana neighborhoods. The property is zoned Office Commercial and owner Parth Patel wanted it rezoned to Local Commercial for the new business. A number of residents spoke in opposition to the rezoning. Mayor Harvey and Commissioner Williams supported it, while the others agreed with Commissioner Martin who said it is important to protect neighborhoods.
