15 year old Vernae Washington and 16 year old Kiyanna Conaway pled guilty Friday to their involvement in a Jan. 17 armed robbery involving three other male suspects and a 17-year-old victim. The girls were sentenced as first offenders. Washington received 18 months at a youth detention center, with eight years and six months on probation and 100 hours community service. Conaway, who cooperated first with law enforcement, received one year in a youth detention center and nine years probation. The three male defendants are scheduled to go on trial Sept. 11.
