Cost to Defend Against Police Suit Rises

The City of Brunswick has spent $14,299 of a $25,000 insurance deductible in defense of the lawsuit against the City and City Manager Jim Drumm, by six Brunswick Police officers. The officers filed suit in 2016 when they were denied their promotions to corporal. The Oliver Maner, LLC law firm is defending the  city in the suit and the payments have gone to them. The City will continue to be invoiced for the defense costs until the costs eclipse the $25,000 deductible. Adrienne Browning, the officers’ attorney, estimates their back pay at $38,000.
