Former US Attorney Charged

Former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, 59 year old Richard Scott Thompson,  was charged in July with aggravated stalking after he was accused of violating an order to stay away from a Brunswick woman. Thompson was jailed on the stalking charge and released on bail under a permanent family violence consent protective order issued in Aug. 2016. He was ordered him to stay out of the woman’s St. Simons neighborhood, which was near his Sea Palms home. Last June the woman accused him of felony aggravated stalking after she moved to Brunswick. He is reportedly he is in a Florida treatment center.
