The City Commission passed the 2017-2018 budget on a three to two vote because of differences of opinions on how much the Ritz Theatre should receive from the City in the coming year. The original $60,000 budget was cut to $45,000 then increased to $52,500. Commissioners Julie Martin and Johnny Cason thought the budget should be restored to the full $60,000 and voted no on the budget.
